The Rhode Island Certification Board (RICB) certification process is designed to measure competency of addiction professionals. RICB recognizes that Addiction Counselors, Prevention Specialists, Student Assistance Counselors, Co-Occurring Disorders, Peer Recovery Specialists and Criminal Justice Professionals are educated in a wide range of disciplines, therapeutic approaches and counseling techniques.
RICB has been a participating member in IC&RC since 1988. IC&RC sets international standards for addiction professional competency and develops and maintains written examinations for each reciprocal credential offered.

UPDATES & NEWS
RIBCCDP Changed Its Name!
RIBCCDP is pleased to announce that we have recently filed to do business as the Rhode Island Certification Board (RICB). The Board unanimously voted on the name change so that we could be inclusive of all the professionals we serve – not only those in substance abuse treatment, but those who work primarily with co-occurring disorders, in the criminal justice system, in prevention and peers.
Effective immediately you will begin to see the name change on all of our documents, and website. It is important to note that our legal name (Rhode Island Certification Board for Chemical Dependency Professionals) has not changed and is still filed with the Secretary of State.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Board at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Problem Gambling Endorsement Available
This Certificate of Competency is available as an endorsement only to those professionals holding a current and valid reciprocal level credential and who meet the education requirement. The Certificate of Competency in Problem Gambling is not a credential but rather an endorsement indicating the completion of training requirements.
